This is an example of frowned upon behaviour, that is how one should not behave.

David Lepar was found by a Commission of Enquiry to be one of the trustees responsible for members losing R20 million.

A financial advisor by profession he was found to have been grossly negligent in his decision to discard all the records and to pay the amount that he did for their reconstruction.

Mr Lepar was unable to demonstrate any valid reason for discarding all the records nor that there was anything wrong with the records that he discarded.

Mr Lepar was further negligent in failing to ensure that the Fund's insurance premiums were paid leaving the members with no insurance to cover any of the costs incurred, something which he hid from the members.

And despite all of this to date Mr Lepar has not paid any compensation to the members for the loss he caused them.
